Nissan announce plans to expand their LCV sector

At a press conference held today at Hannover Motor Show, Nissan revealed plans to double their LCV business revenues. Nissan plan to introduce 13 new products to the van market as part of its GT 2012 business plan, which includes the introduction of the all new NV200 in 2009 – a vehicle inspired by the NV200 concept presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007.

The NV200 will hit the road in Japan spring 2009 and then in Europe, as well as in several other markets, in the second half of 2009.

Nissan NV200The all-new small van sports an attractive design that combines practicality and convenience, low-running costs and high quality as well as class leading cargo space.

Nissan have also announced their intention to “mass market” a hybrid-powered light commercial vehicle by 2012, and have presented a Hybrid Cabstar, developed in partnership with powertrain specialists ZF, at the 2008 Hannover Motor Show demonstrating Nissan’s commitment to LCV hybrid technology, coupled with state of the art battery technology.

The Hybrid Cabstar is designed for working life in urban areas and Nissan estimate that reductions in CO2 and fuel consumption will amount to up to 30%.

“We have not yet reached our full potential,” said Andy Palmer, Corporate Vice president, Nissan Motor Company, LCV Business Unit. “We aim to expand our business much further with smart new products and services that meet the needs of our customers, both in Europe and around the world.”
