Peugeot 206 Van Review

The light commercial version of the popular 206 super-mini car. One of the most advanced engines found in this class of vehicle. Top speed is 104mph with an eager pulling power through the gears for acceleration.

The 206 Van feels very much like any ordinary 206 and it's reasonably well equipped. Standard equipment includes a power steering, a radio/CD player with clever remote controls, electric windows, remote control central locking, a height adjustable steering column, height adjustable front seatbelts and tinted glass are all included. So are body side protection mouldings, tinted glass, an intermittent rear wash/wipe, a high level third rear brake light and a distance to next service indicator. The 206 van is also the only car-derived van to offer satellite navigation as an option. Safety was another of development priority so it meets all the latest European Directives for frontal and side impact with side impact absorbers, beams and reinforced centre pillars are standard. A driver's airbag is included in the standard spec, with the option of a passenger front airbag with deactivation switch as an option. Available in one engine size the 1.4-litre HDi diesel unit producing 68bhp is impressive offering a top speed of 104mph with eager pulling power. The 206 van has the best in handling benefiting from Peugeot chassis, suspension and brake expertise. On the road gear changing is smooth with excellent traction but the power steering can be a touch light and the body roll more pronounced than usual. Due to its size this van is easy to manoeuvre so perfect for urban driving but with the enhanced engine can cope well with long distance.Though cabin space isn't one of the normal 206s strongest selling points, this van version is acceptable with a payload of 526kg, exceeding most other vans in the class and a load volume of just over 1.13 cubic metres. The load area itself should be versatile too and is longer than it looks at first glance; 1,280mm in length.

Verdict :
Overall a stylish package with excellent driving ability and the cars good looks belie the fact this is actually a van.
