Hyundai H100 Review
Hyundai are no longer manufacturing the H100 but it remains popular in the second hand market. Easy and comfortable to drive with lots of space in the back this van is a cheap option. Main criticism is the weak engine which is not powerful enough. Basic inside the Hyundai H100 is low on inside equipment with cheap plastic trim. The rounded exterior makes visibility good although parking can be difficult when backing into tight spaces due ot the length. Air conditioning is adequate but not that cold and is very noisy especially from outside. Inside the back is huge with plenty of space and is the selling point to this van.The weakness in this van is the engine available in a 2.5 diesel and turbo diesel 85 bhp 4200rpm making pulling this 1.6 ton van too sluggish. Even though launching it from a standstill is good, the acceleration is super slow and deadpan throughout the rev range, even at 3500rpm. You need to shift it up to around 3500rpm or higher for the best result. However, it can make the engine a smoker within no time, especially that the engine is a pre-combustion distributor type. Handling is good and body roll is kept to a minimum. The ride is firm but comfortable. But overall, the H-100 is a good vehicle to own, as it's comfortable and quite easy to drive. Despite the meager performance, it has a solid reliability that's as tough as rocks, despite being cheap. Only available now in the second hand market beware that your bargain has not reached the end of it's days as I suspect all H100 owners will be hanging on to it until it's number really is up. Verdict : Excellent rear space and easy to drive will make this van a popular cheap option. Comfortable and easy to drive but weak engine. For : Good rear space Cheap to buy Reliable Against : No longer in production Weak engine Basic trim Overall : 2 Handling : 2 Comfort : 3 Quality : 2 Performance : 2 Reliability : 3 Practicality : 2 Cost : 2 Value : 3 Stereo : 2 |
