© Adfero Ltd Northgate, a van hire company situated in the North East of the country, is to sponsor a list of the 250 biggest companies in the region, in order to support local growth.

The list, which is compiled by Durham Business School and organised by regional publication The Journal, is now in its 31st year. Northgate has been near the top of the list almost continuously since it first entered in 1998.

Phil Moorhouse, managing director of the Darlington company, which is a market-leader in van hire across Britain, Ireland and Spain, told the newspaper: "We are delighted to be strongly associated with such an important North East benchmark. We are an oak covering several countries, and our acorn was planted here in this region.

Northgate has been operating in the light commercial vehicle rental sector since 1981, and provides flexible services that give customers the freedom to manage their vehicle fleet without long term commitments.

It is made up of 21 hiring companies operating from nearly 90 sites with a fleet of over 68,000 vehicles in the UK and Ireland, impressive figures that are supplemented by its Spanish operation, which consists of 36 branches and 59,500 vehicles.
