Sir Paul goes green with new car © Adfero Ltd Sir Paul McCartney has shown off his eco credentials with his new car, it has been reported. The Daily Mail has revealed that the former Beatle has purchased the £84,000 Lexus LS600h, but it may be that his carbon footprint has grown in the process. Indeed, the vehicle was flown 7,000 miles from the factory in Japan in which it was developed - a trip which created more than 14 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Car and van drivers may be aware that some firms offer cheaper van insurance deals to motorists who take to the road in environmentally-friendly models. Lexus has stood by its decision to fly the vehicle to Sir Paul: "To ensure the car's quality and security, as well as to meet marketing deadlines, it was airshipped on a regularly-scheduled commercial flight to the UK." The Environmental Transport Association this week claimed that road tax increases based on emissions could leave 2.3 million motorists £100 to £245 out of pocket.
