Motorists in Hull express anger over parking bill © Adfero Ltd Car and van drivers in Hull have revealed their anger when it comes to the amount they are paying for parking, it has been reported. The Hull Daily Mail has stated that the more than £7.4 million in penalty notices was paid by motorists in the region between 2006 and 2007. It added that the number of offences rose some 21 per cent over the time period compared to one year earlier. Drivers could find that paying this amount is too much in addition to car insurance bills and road tax costs. "If they are making that much profit, why can't councils simply lower all car park charges?" said Keith Thompson, a local resident from Bricknell Avenue in West Hull. Meanwhile, Sussex county council officials are to take over from local police when it comes to on-street parking enforcement. This will effectively decriminalise parking, according to the Hastings Observer.
