Hire vehicle operators need a valid licence © Adfero Ltd Car and van drivers who take out hire vehicles in Corby have been warned that they need to have a licence if they are to avoid prosecution, it has been reported.According to the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, motorists in airport travel vehicles, novelty vehicles or limousines, among other automobiles, need council or Vehicle and Operator Service Agency approval. It could be that any resulting fines from not being properly licensed prove to be a problem when drivers next come to review their van insurance policies, as cover firms could judge them a risk. Corby council lead member for environment David Harley remarked that the new rules protect both the public and business which hire out such automobiles. This comes as motorists in Matlock were this week warned to keep their vehicles safe after a number of fuel thefts were reported in the region. Criminals have been cutting fuel lines and draining petrol out, the Matlock Mercury stated.
