Fines and bans for Leicestershire drink-drivers © Adfero Ltd Motorists in Leicestershire caught drinking and driving are facing a ban from the road and hefty fines, it has been reported.According to Fenland Today, the 94 people caught over the limit, out of 1,215 tested in June, is down from 139 last summer. However, it could be that the 12-month ban and £5,000 fine they face hampers their chances of picking up cheap car or van insurance in the future, as cover firms could seem them as a risk. Inspector Vivienne Brenchley remarked that it is "disappointing" that drivers are willing to take chances by drinking and driving. She said: "I hope the 94 motorists who will be losing their licences after being caught during this campaign will serve as a warning to others of the consequences of drink-driving." This comes as singer Darren Day has pleaded not guilty of drink-driving after being caught out by Cardiff officials in June.
