Crackdown targets school speeders © Adfero Ltd Car and van drivers who break the speed limit close to schools in the East End area of Glasgow are to be targeted as part of a new clampdown by police, it has been reported.According to the Glasgow Evening Times, every school in the region is to be monitored and fixed penalty notices will be handed out to those who flout road rules. It may be that by picking up a motoring conviction, drivers compromise their van insurance policies as cover firms could judge them to be a road risk and increase costs. Sergeant Stevie Kinvig of the area's community safety team remarked that it is normally local people who commit the offence. He said: "The drivers should see the officers and anyone who doesn't spot them and slow down as a result deserves to be caught." This comes as Portsmouth News has reported that four drivers in the area were given on-the-spot fines and penalty points for leaving their vehicles close to school gates.
