Budget drivers head to Spain for cheap road trips

© Adfero Ltd Car and van drivers looking to embark on a road trip that will not break the bank can head to Spain, it has been reported.

Research from the Post Office has found that motoring costs are cheaper in Spain than in the UK, France and Germany.

It found that the country benefits from low car hire costs and cheap diesel which, at 94p per litre, marks the best deal in the eurozone.

This could be a blessing for people in the UK already paying expensive van insurance and road tax bills.

Further research from the Post Office found that the cost of car hire in Spain is around £122 for three days and 200 miles of fuel, compared to £248 in Greece.

This comes as Avis Rent a Car has reported that drivers heading to a foreign country this summer should look to rent a vehicle.
