At-work driving qualifications welcomed © Adfero Ltd Government plans to introduce qualifications for those who drive a car or van as part of their jobs have been welcomed. The Department for Transport (DfT) announced earlier this week that it will work with insurers and employers to develop new courses and qualifications taken after the standard driving test, which could help lower insurance premiums and offer Britons more options when going for a career in the driving for work sector. According to occupational road risk management organisation RoadSafe, such qualifications could have a significant impact on the recruitment process for businesses that rely on road transport as part of their operations, easier.com reports. "Whether driving company cars, vans or their own vehicles on business, employees who drive as part of their job undertake daily one of the most dangerous tasks they will ever be asked to undertake in their working life," commented RoadSafe director Adrian Walsh. The DfT also said that there may be specific courses for certain types of vehicle, such as vocational courses for van drivers.
