Fiat aftersales

Fiat Professional is the commercial vehicle arm of the world-famous Italian manufacturer.

Offering a full range, from trucks to chassis cabs, Fiat's commercial vehicles are designed to be versatile, sturdy and spacious.

The range includes the capable Ducato, the award-winning Scudo, the efficient Doblo Cargo and recent newcomer the Fiorino.

Just over a week after going on sale in the UK, the Fiorino scooped its first award, being named Best New Van at the 2008 Fleet World Honours.

Commenting on the achievement, Paul Godden, Fiat Professional's brand manager, said: "We are delighted the Fiorino has been recognised in this way and so early on in its life in the UK. The van's blend of size, versatility and good looks will make it a sure-fire winner."

The Fiorino joined the UK line-up of Fiat Professional at a time of great expansion for the company's light commercial vehicles, sales of which rose 8.3 per cent from 2006 to 2007.

Fiat appreciate that some customers have very specific needs and so, as part of the company's Built For Business conversion programme, it is possible to have Fiat vans converted to meet a company's exact requirements.

This means customers can end up with a Luton, a Dropsider, a Tipper or even a Double Cab if required.

Fiat also appreciate the importance of aftersales care stating: "Behind every van we sell there is the reassurance of a whole range of services designed to make the ownership of your Fiat as enjoyable, affordable and trouble-free as possible."

When buying a commercial vehicle, the company offers a range of financial packages including Hire Purchase, Lease Purchase, Finance Leasing and Contract Hire and, like the vans themselves, these packages can be tailored to meet a customer's exact requirements.

Whichever financial package a customer opts for, they also receive AA Assurance free for the first year.

In the event of a breakdown or an accident, AA Assurance cover provides access to the resources of both the AA and the Fiat dealer network.

If a customer's van is temporarily immobilised they will be offered emergency car hire, alternative travel arrangements or overnight accommodation.

There is also the option to have a vehicle's load delivered to a destination within the UK mainland if a local repair cannot be arranged within a reasonable time.

Assistance is available in the Republic of Ireland, Mainland Europe, all the islands of the Mediterranean and Turkey, as well as in the UK.

In the case of an accident, van owners will also be provided with any legal advice required.

As well as breakdown cover, all new Fiat vans come with a comprehensive warranty package consisting of a two-year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty and a third year dealer warranty.

This means for the first two years any repairs required as the result of faulty materials or manufacture are carried out free of charge and most electrical and mechanical components will also usually be covered in the third year or up to 100,000 miles.

Fiat states that in addition to this, subject to regular inspections being carried out, any perforation to the bodywork of a van due to corrosion will be repaired free during the first eight years and any paintwork defect due to faulty materials or manufacture will be rectified without charge for a period of three years.

Van owners also receive the Connect Assistance Information Service, which Fiat claims is a world first.

This means that a driver simply has to press a key built into the van to reach an operator. Operators are able to provide traffic and weather condition details, tourist and road-side service information, as well as medical and legal advice.

This system is provided free for the first 12 months with the option of extending if required.

For customers who want to get in touch with Fiat, there is a free phone number which provides information on dealers offering additional services, such as extended workshop hours and approved bodyshop facilities.

Fiat understands their customers and appreciates that when someone relies on their van to get jobs done, having it off the road for even half a day is money down the drain.

This understanding is why the company demonstrates a high commitment to offering a fully-comprehensive package of aftersales care.
