Citroen aftersales

Citroen employs 211,800 people worldwide and is the second largest car manufacturer in Europe, reporting record-breaking revenues in 2006 of 56,594 million euros (£44,638 million).

Citroen announced its best-ever van sales earlier this year after it sold 25,530 C2 Enterprise, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay models during 2007.

Robert Handyside, Citroen's commercial vehicle operations manager, said at the time: "Citroen has started its light commercial vehicle business in 2008 in the best possible way, with these record January sales figures.

"With the forthcoming launch of the new models we will be able to add even greater sales potential to our existing four strong range, which has already demonstrated its popularity with both large and small LCV operators."

It is not only top sales figures that make a world-class manufacturer's reputation but also its aftersales record and Citroen say: "(It's) most valued asset are its customers.

"We are constantly seeking ways to expand our services to Citroen owners and drivers."

All Citroen vehicles come with a three-year warranty, which includes a two-year unlimited mileage cover and a no-fee option of a third-year dealer provided extended warranty, for the first 60,000 miles.

Vans and cars made by the firm also come with a 12-year long anti-corrosion warranty, which covers van owners against all internal to external "perforation to bodywork or underbody", subject to an inspection by an authorised Citroen dealer.

Consumers can also choose Citroen's Advantage package, which extends a van owner's warranty by either one or two years, allowing them to benefit from the manufacturer's services for longer.

The package means that should an accident occur any repairs or work needed to be done to their vans will be undertaken within the manufacturer's network of mechanics and using only Citroen parts.

Under the policy there is no excess charge when van owners make a claim and the warranty is available to vans of up to 36 months old and that have done less than 60,000 miles when they are purchased.

For those who want the extra security of knowing that all of their motoring difficulties are dealt with by the manufacturer, Citroen has introduced its own motor insurance which van owners get a ten per cent discount on when they buy online.

The insurance policy provides van owners with access to its specialist-approved repair network, a courtesy vehicle for the duration of their repair after an accident and a 72-hour green card.

Citroen also promises 24-hour accident recovery, up to £5,000 in personal accident cover, a convenient instalment option and up to £1,000 audio cover.

For those who have purchased their vans for business purposes, Citroen offers a special service to meet the customer’s individual needs.

Its DRIVENOW business products are aimed at bringing all aspects of motoring together, providing commercial van owners with finance options, protection against unforeseen circumstances and "the very best standards of maintenance".

What is more, in order to help van owners make sure their vehicles accommodate their needs, the firm has introduced an accessories service.

Citroen says the service enables "you to personalise your vehicle to suit both aesthetic and practical needs".

From Sat Navs to mobile phone holders or extra storage, all the products have been designed with customers' needs and the logistics of Citroen vans in mind.

Other benefits of buying from Citroen which van owners may benefit from after the sale include low CO2 emissions.

This may sound like a perk rather than something van owners would actively seek out, but an environmentally friendly van could help manufacturers cut costs.

Citroen notes that all of its diesel engines can be operated on up to a 30 per cent blend of biodiesel without needing any modification.

Furthermore, those vehicles which produce 120 grams per kilometre of CO2 or less are exempt from the congestion charge, which could be a big bonus for businesses operating in London.

Citroen also puts van owners' mind at ease that after they have bought the vehicle, they are unlikely to experience much trouble.

The manufacturer says: "Citroen has received recognition for producing the safest range of vehicles available in the UK.

"This is a function of the high level of safety equipment fitted to our vehicles to help avoid a collision."

Overall, Citroen provides its customers with comprehensive after care and designs its vans with forethought resululting in a package aimed to please consumers.
